ANNE RUSSELL LANCASTER
Principal PHOTOGRAPHER
My love for photography began when I was a little girl. At my grandmother's house, you could always find me flipping through photo albums, enamored by how photos captured distinct moments in time and forever preserved those moments for the rest of us to look back on. After stealing my mom's film camera, and breaking it, I realized it was time for some actual training with a lens. Middle school and high school photography classes led to becoming the photography editor for the yearbook, teaching photography at the summer camp I attended for 10 years, and minoring in photography in college. I have never known a life without a love of photography.
As a photographer, it is my joy to capture the emotion of what a specific season feels like. And as a former teacher, I especially love combining the gift of having a creative eye with the gift of connecting with children. It is such a treat to be able to document the magic and wonder of those young years. In every session, my goal is to capture timeless photographs that transport you back to your family's happiest moments for years and years to come.
Some other fun facts about me: I grew up on a little mountain in Tennessee (YSR!), and I moved to Nashville my junior year of high school. Since then, when I think of home, it is both of these places. My friends and loved ones take up most of the room in my heart, especially my college crush turned husband, Jeffrey, who is my biggest cheerleader, supporter, and ultimate best friend—as well as our pup Rudy, who we share as a best friend. I'm a sucker for a black and white photo, a little grain found here and there in a photo, and the art of photojournalism: an unposed, natural way to capture your family's stories. I would be so, so honored to spend a morning or afternoon behind the lens with your family to document the beautiful life that is uniquely yours!
